During the 700 years of the history of the Hofburg decisions were taken here that had effect on territories that include or are part of today’s Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, etc.
Today the Imperial Palace is home to the seat of the Austrian Federal President, 5 world-class museum organisations (the Albertina Museum, the Museum of Art History, the Museum of Natural History, the Austrian National Library, Schloss Schönbrunn) comprising 61 important collections as well as the Spanish Riding School, and other institutions.
