Projectworld Newsletter December 2019

Foreword by the castle captain
Dear Reader, dear Colleagues,
The ending year 2019 brought significant changes for our Projectworld. It is of particular importance that we were able to receive funding for two further projects, which will accompany us in the next two years.

The two projects PRO-Heritage and EHL@N, funded by the EU, make a significant contribution to strengthening the core competencies of Burghauptmannschaft Oesterreich, whose direct responsibility is to preserve/maintain the built Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Austria, through international exchange and scientific research. This newsletter was created to form a platform for exchange and networking. We invite you to take advantage of this possibility and look forward to receiving your contributions and requests at projektwelt@burghauptmannschaft.atI would like to take the opportunity to thank all partners, supporters and friends of Burghauptmannschaft Oesterreich for the good cooperation in the past year and wish you a pleasant holiday season, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020!
Reinhold Sahl
Burghauptmann

Did you know, that in 2018 Burghauptamnnschaft Oesterreich also developed a Memory Game for the EU Commission? You can find the game in shops of selected EHL sites.

The European Heritage Academy – what is it about?

In the following interview, Mag. Astrid Huber, Head of the Information and Training Centre for Monument Conservation - Kartause Mauerbach (IWBZ), talks about her experience with The European Heritage Academy and the role of the IWBZ as an associate partner in PRO-Heritage.

Horizon 2020 Project PRO-Heritage – first activities

In March of this year, the PRO-Heritage project funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 programme was launched, which beside strengthening traditional crafts - through its certification and training in the use of "gentle" conservation methods - also contributes strongly to the improvement of the energy efficiency of historic buildings.

After the kick-off meeting in March, at which the first project activities were discussed in detail and initiated, the first study visit took place in Mauerbach, AT and Banska Stiavnica, SK. At both locations the project participants had the great opportunity to observe practical courses and learn more about the course contents offered. During another study visit at Thierhaupten, DE, the participants had the chance to learn about traditional lead glazing techniques and to visit the building archive there.

You can find more about the project PRO-Heritage here.

European Heritage Label and the EHL@N Network - the starting signal

After a preceding partner meeting the kick-off event of this project took place in Brussels on October 22 and 23, 2019 as part of the European Heritage Label Days.

The Assembly of European Heritage Sites offered the ideal setting for this.

In addition to presentations of some sites, discussions about selection and monitoring, the promotion of the label and respective sites was reviewed in intense workshops and the planned branding strategy was discussed. The strengthening and development of the European Heritage Label towards becoming a real brand will be in the focus of attention in the next few years in order to raise awareness for the Heritage Label and to anchor it in the consciousness of the public.

More about the project EHL@N here.

It started with a simple idea: DKT - The Commercial Talent, is one of the most famous Austrian board games. After a year of preparation and production - yes, it really takes so long - the DKT Imperial Palace Vienna was ready for young and old(er) gamblers. And now you can rent or lease parts of the Imperial Palace Vienna, take a short-cut through the attic and pause after a Fiaker (horse-drawn carriage) ride to a Hofburg Ball - or trade a world-famous exhibit from the museums in the Imperial Palace Vienna area - and much more.

Are you still looking for a Christmas present? Here it is: a DKT Imperial Palace Vienna brings a lot of joy for everyone and is ideal for the cold winter evenings after Christmas!

You can find out more here or order your DKT Hofburg Vienna right away.
